THE WORKSHOP PROCESS

Participants will learn how to interpret artist symbols in different artworks. Participants will then be given the chance to create their own symbols based on their individual experiences and collate them with their colleagues to create a unique bespoke art piece. This process also touches on the history and implications of First Nations resilience and resistance from the artist perspective.

Introduction

Meet the artist Jasmine Sarin and learn a little bit about her art practice and the importance of First Nations art and culture followed by an overview of the workshop experience.

Workshopping

Participants will get hands on creative! Don’t worry if you feel like you don’t have a creative bone in your body, this experience will empower you to be brave and make your mark.

Discussion

Let’s learn a bit more about each other and have discussions about symbols created by participants and how each symbols tells a unique story. This is a great opportunity to find out more about a symbol you may find intriguing.

Reflection

How did this experience make us feel? What opportunities did we have to learn and grow? Let’s discuss how our symbols (and knowledge) can make a difference.
